On 8th August 2013 at the Center for Automotive Research Management Briefing Seminars, the General Motors Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Dan Ammann, displayed the upcoming new generation Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon pickups for the first time. These pickups are designed to deliver impressive fuel economy, driving dynamics and are wrapped in an eye catching and stylish body. With the launch of these new next generation Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon pickups, the Chevrolet and GMC become the industry offering the leading lineup of exclusive pickups as these two models will join the 2014 Silverado, upcoming Silverado and 2014 Sierra 1500s and Sierra HDs.
Both Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon pickups are the small pickups with which the GMC made its powerful come back as it has been out of the segment of small pickups since 2009. However, if we look at its previous track record regarding small pickup market we will find that the GMC once had a very strong position. In a report by the Wall Street Journal it is said that the Colorado gets a tag of “Sport Truck” whereas the Canyon gets a tagline of “Professional Grade”. Both the vehicles have potential to alternate the less fuel efficient large size pickup trucks.
